Funded Research

The university recognizes that research is an important part of the work of academic staff and takes into account this principle when assigning faculty members and distributing workload, when appointing a research committee, and when transforming staff members from irregular to regular employees. The university also seeks to provide its students, at all levels, with the opportunity to obtain research skills. Efforts are made to provide faculty with the time, space, and physical resources to conduct research, in particular.

Funded Academic Activities in 2014/2015

The vice president for academic affairs office has provided financial support worth $170,839 for research projects submitted by members of the academic staff in their areas of expertise, including research projects presented in cooperation with MA students supervised by academic staff. Also, financial support was provide for different academic  activities, including partial or total support to members of the academic body for their participation in international and regional conferences, in which they have presented working and research papers, as well as undergraduate students research.

Through the Scientific Research Committee, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs provided financial support valued at $84,950 for 13 research projects in 2014/2015.

In 2013/2014, $179,404.00 was granted to support 22 research projects.

In 2014/2015, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs provided support of $66,835 from the academic development budget, in order to support the participation of members of the academic staff in submitting research and working papers in conferences or meetings which was an increase of 39% compared to the previous academic year.

As a continuation of the university’s initiative to allocate a budget for funding research projects conducted by undergraduate students, $19,054 was disbursed during the academic year 2014/2015, an increase of more than 200% over the previous academic year.
